Dr. Sanaa Kaddoura

Research and Publications

My work broadly focuses on creating intelligent solutions for different problems in different research areas. In cybersecurity, I applied deep learning, a machine learning branch, to detect high-accuracy spam emails. In another paper, machine learning was applied to intrusion detection systems. I also applied machine learning to the healthcare domain, mainly to the early detection of Parkinson's disease and brain tumor classification. In addition, I applied machine learning in the education domain. As COVID-19 forced exams to be online, cheating was a problem. So, we applied machine learning for intelligent and accurate cheating detection in online exams. Another emerging domain I am working in is developing natural language processing techniques, mainly for the Arabic language. The Arabic language still needs a lot of improvements to be used in devices and software due to its extensive dictionary word count and grammatical complexity. So, this is a hot research area for improving the computer understanding of this language. In addition to the research mentioned above, I am actively doing research in higher education teaching and learning related to enhancing the quality of instructional delivery to facilitate students' acquirement of skills and smooth transition to the workplace.
